Is Revivify the same as ceramic?

No — they are fundamentally different chemistries. Ceramic coatings cure into a rigid silicon dioxide (SiO₂) glass layer that cannot self-repair; any marring from washes or daily driving becomes permanent until someone polishes it out. Revivify is a self-healing elastomeric polymer. Both products protect against chemical contamination, UV exposure, and hydrophobic degradation, but only Revivify can actively reverse light marring.

How does the healing actually work?

When a coated surface is marred, the polymer network is physically displaced — not cut through. The molecules are pushed out of their cured position but the coating film is not broken. Heat from the sun, warm rinse water (around 100°F), or a heat gun provides enough thermal energy for the displaced polymer chains to flow back to their original resting position. Most light swirl marks and wash-induced marring reverse within minutes to a few hours of heat exposure.

Do you have to correct paint first?

Yes, always. Any coating — ceramic or Revivify — seals in whatever surface it is applied over. Coating over swirled or defect-heavy paint locks those defects in under a layer you cannot polish through without stripping the coating. Do you install Revivify on Teslas?

The majority of our Revivify installs are Teslas — Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck. Tesla's water-based clear coat is thinner and softer than most modern vehicles, which means swirls appear faster and ceramic coatings can't keep up. Will Revivify heal deep scratches, or just light swirls?

Revivify heals light marring — the wash-induced swirls, fine scratches, and micro-marring that live in the top of the coating film. When that layer is displaced rather than cut through, heat lets the polymer flow back into place. A deep scratch that has cut through the coating into the clear coat or base coat is not something any coating reverses; that's a correction or refinish question. Revivify's job is to keep the everyday marring from ever accumulating.

Can I apply Revivify over paint protection film (PPF)?

Yes. The install order is PPF first, then Revivify over the film in the areas you want self-healing on top of paint protection. PPF takes the rock chips and impact; Revivify adds the self-healing, hydrophobic, high-gloss top layer and makes the film easier to maintain. It's a common combination on Teslas and high-value cars — we can structure the job panel by panel.

How do I maintain a Revivify coating?

Wash it like a normal car — just never at a tunnel-brush wash. We recommend a touchless wash about once a week or a two-bucket hand wash every two to three weeks. For light marring, a sunny Huntington Beach day is often all the "service" the coating needs; warm water during a rinse speeds the healing. Signature and Concours packages include a maintenance decon wash at 12 months, and the annual check-up keeps your warranty active under the Revivify Peace of Mind program.
